CHARLES Homsy is ready to take on the role of general manager of one of Fiji’s premier tourism properties, relying on his wealth of knowledge about the industry to guide Radisson Blu Fiji Resort to greater heights.
Mr Homsy is the former general manager of Warwick Fiji. He was welcomed by staff members of Radisson in a traditional ceremony on Tuesday.
He said his first plan as general manager was to keep Radisson as the first destination for families in Fiji and also increase the popularity of the resort.
“We need to keep on training our staff so at the end of the day, everyone is happy,” he said.
“It’s always challenging but it is a good challenge. “I have been in this business for a long time but this is a beautiful property, the staff are amazing, the location is beautiful.
“The most important thing is to keep the standards and keep the staff happy and relaxed.
“They (tourists) come to see Fiji and the Fijians and we are only here to help.”
He said the property was also undergoing a massive refurbishment of all rooms and this was expected to conclude by February next year.
Mr Homsy also said one of the biggest challenges of being in the industry was the cost involved with doing business.
“The main challenge is the cost as a tourism operator.
“The destination might be getting a bit expensive and we are challenged by Asian destinations, who have very good facilities and are less expensive so we need to keep ourselves competitive.”
