PLANS are in place to expand Malamala Beach Club and enhance services provided by staff at the island property.

General manager Trish Mete said they had experienced a fantastic first year.

“We have a lot of charters where they are booking out the whole island, booking out our venues to share with the other guests and it’s a great day out here,” she said.

“We also have a great menu, curated cocktails so we’ve just grown from strength to strength and it couldn’t be better.”

Presently, the club has about 50 staff members with plans to recruit more employees in time to come.

Ms Mete said the club boasted probably the best restaurant in Fiji and 10 cabanas that were serviced with butlers.

“We have the venue, the hub, the deck area, pool beds so we’ve got to have that staff. “We’ve also started to take on attaches and three attachment staff.

“One of our new things for this year is to do some more spot training.” She said the island would not offer accommodation and it would remain purely a day trip destination.”
