THE Vodafone Fiji football side has made a flying start to the Oceania women’s Cup qualifying tournament thumping Vanuatu 5-1 in its opening match.

On debut, USA based Trina Davis made a blistering start to her international career scoring three goals.

Luisa Tamanitoakula scored Fiji’s first while Davis also scored as Fiji led 2-nil at the break.

Davis added another two in the second spell while Cema Nasau also got on the score-sheet seeing Fiji leading 5-nil.

Lapse of concentration in defence allowed Vanuatu to pull one back but it was only consolation.

Fiji’s next match is against the Solomon Islands next Monday at 3pm at Lautoka’s Churchill Park.

Meanwhile, in another match played today, Solomon Islands beat American Samoa 2-nil.
