THE Hibiscus Events Group raised $53,859.25 in the 2018 Vodafone Fiji Hibiscus festival.

This was revealed by HEGI chairperson Hirdesh Prasad who said it was a good amount collected because the sponsors were only given three to four weeks compared to previous years where they had three months.

Last year, the festival raised $174,087.10 and the money was distributed to 24 organisations with Homes of Hope recieving the highest donation.

Some of the 24 organisations that received the donations were the Samabula Citizen Home, Cure Kids Fiji, Haus of Khameleon, Fiji Cancer Society and Dilkusha Home, among others.

Mr Prasad said the sponsors this year did not get much time because the venue was only confirmed three weeks before the festival.

He said by September, they would be able to reveal the organisations that would be supported by this charity.

He said securing a venue was the major challenge for them because the MSG grounds opposite My Suva Park was denied to them four weeks before the festival.
