Hindu society organises breast cancer awareness session

IN a bid to create more awareness among people, the Fiji Hindu Society (FHS) organised a breast cancer medical session for participants today.

The session was held at the Muanivatu Sanatan Dharam Ram Mandhir Hall, Laucala Bay Road in Suva.

Head of laboratory and consultant histopathologist at MIOT Pacific Hospital Dr Siva Selvam was the chief guest and said this session was hosted to raise awareness about breast cancer with members of the public because it was the leading cause of cancer deaths in the country.

Dr Selvam presented on the burden of breast cancer in Fiji based on their at MIOT Pacific Hospitals, its causes, risk factors, prevention, self-examination, early diagnosis, clinical presentation, treatment options, and survival of breast cancer patients.
