THE Vunisea Secondary School netball team is eager to stamp its mark in this year’s Powerade Secondary Schools Netball Series which started yesterday at the Lautoka Central College ground.

Vunisea aims to win the tournament after being inspired by the success of their younger sisters at this week’s Central Division Primary Schools Netball Tournament in Suva.

The school has its under-17 and U19 teams playing in Lautoka and had made winning starts in the first day.

Head coach Loraini Tira said their primary school netball win had really boosted their campaign.

She said the team lacked proper training and playing facilities but they had the talents that could counter top teams in the competition.

“We trained well for this event despite the lack of resources,” she said.

Vunisea last played at the competition four years ago. Their U19 team defeated Sila Central and Labasa College in their opening games while the U17 won its first two games yesterday.
