7s tournament to raise funds for new church

THE Huawei Ucunipotu 7s has launched its first ever tournament at Vodafone headquarters in Suva yesterday to assist the building of a church in Vunikodi, Macuata which was damaged during a cyclone in 2013.

There are 32 teams earmarked to compete in this tournament including the Fiji 7s national men’s team.

The tournament is scheduled for October 12-13 at Subrail Park in Labasa.

Ucunipotu 7s manager Oveti Ladiladi said they were looking forward to host their first tournament with the inclusion of the Fiji 7s gladiators.

“The purpose of this tournament is to help us building our church that was destroyed in 2003 by cyclone Emi,” he said.

The prize money will be $5000 for winning team and $2000 for the runners up.

Registration fee is $300 and will close at the end of this month.
