The Ministry of Health and Medical Services conducted 7341 COVID-19 tests as of August 10.

The information on testing is available on the ministry’s website.

“All cases before July 6th were international travel associated, or epi linked to international travel associated cases,” the ministry stated.

“Cases from July 6 to date were international travellers who were in mandatory quarantine in government-designated international border quarantine facilities in Nadi.”

The ministry confirmed Fiji has seven confirmed COVID-19 cases with 19 recoveries and one death.

As at August 10, Fiji had not recorded a border quarantine case for 27 days or 114 days since the last case reported outside a border quarantine facility.

The Ministry of Health’s criteria for COVID-19 testing says the increase in testing capacity was because of the recent availability of gene expert testing, coupled with ongoing fever clinics.
