WOMEN’S Fund Fiji has approved $4.61million in grants for 44 organisations working to advance gender equality, strengthen women’s leadership and improve the lives of women and girls across the country.

The 2026 cohort of grantee partners was officially launched at the Novotel Suva Lami Bay last week, with the funding supporting initiatives ranging from economic empowerment and ending violence against women to climate justice and humanitarian action.

Women’s Fund Fiji board member Marlene Dutta said the Fund received 151 applications, highlighting the demand for resources among groups working to bring about change in their communities.

Of the 44 approved grants, 42 were Sustainability Grants and two were Movement Building Grants, with a total approved value of approximately $4.61million over their grant terms.

The cohort included 23 new grantee partners.

“The response to this grant call reflects the demand for resources and the commitment of groups working for change across Fiji,” Ms Dutta said.

She said the grants were intended to support work across five thematic areas: women’s economic empowerment; ending violence against women and girls; women’s leadership and decision-making; women’s coalitions for change; and climate justice and humanitarian action.

Ms Dutta said the impact of funding could be seen in practical changes, including women earning their own income, communities creating more opportunities for women’s leadership and organisations becoming better equipped to advocate for those they represent.

“The value of a grant is also seen in the changes it makes possible: a woman earning an income of her own, a community making more room for women’s leadership, or a group becoming better equipped to advocate for the people it represents.”

She acknowledged the applicants who were unsuccessful in this round and thanked donors, development partners and grantee organisations for their continued commitment to gender equality.

Ms Dutta said the Fund would continue supporting diverse women and gender non-conforming people, including groups working in rural, remote and hard-to-reach communities.
