FemLINKPacific has called for a thorough and timely investigation into the death of its network member, Vilimaina Wotta, whose body was found in Nadi last week.

It said the loss highlights the need to protect women and girls from violence and insecurity.

According to FemLINK, Wotta was part of a community media and women’s leadership network in the Western Division, which worked to promote women’s voices, community resilience and peace.

“Every woman has the right to live free from violence, fear, and harm, and every loss of life demands our collective attention and action,” the organisation said. FemLINKPacific said investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death must be thorough, transparent and timely to ensure accountability and justice.

“Her loss is deeply felt by all who knew her and worked alongside her.”

The organisation also called on communities, government agencies, faith leaders and service providers to work together to prevent violence and ensure women and girls could live safely and with dignity.

It urged the public and media to avoid speculation while investigations continued.

“Public discourse must center humanity, accountability, and support for those affected rather than speculation or sensationalism.”
