MEMBERS of Team Fiji to the Pacific Games in Samoa were hosted to a church service and lunch by the Fijian community today at the USP Alafua Campus.

Close to 100 Fijians who have now called Samoa home had the chance to meet the Fijian contingent after the service and had also provided a beautiful spread for the team.

High Commissioner to New Zealand Filimone Waqabaca and his wife also attended the service.

Mr Waqabaca’s  son and namesake is in the men’s basketball team.

President of the Fijian community in Samoa Rakesh Singh said they were happy to host and support Team Fiji.

“Our community is quite strong, we have monthly meetings and formally we organise activities and the major ones are the church activities plus the Fiji Day which takes place in October.”
