MORE than 600,000 Fijians have been registered to vote in this year’s General Elections.
This was clarified by the Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem in a statement issued today where he said his office had recorded a total of 636,764 registered voters.
Mr Saneem says there are 265,745 registered voters in the Central Division, 26,006 registered voters in the Eastern Division, 243,569 from the Western Division, and from the Northern Division, the Fijian Elections Office (FEO) has registered 94,954 voters.
“There are 7490 voters who have registered overseas and would be eligible to cast their vote via postal ballot,” Mr Saneem said.
“Of the total number of voters, 67,829 will be voting via pre-poll, and 568,943 are Election Day voters,” he added.
He said the FEO had noted a gradual, annual increase in voters over the last four years.
