The Pacific Harbour 10 kilometre and a half marathon have registered 150 runners.

Race director Marita Manley said registrations were going well with regular club runners and those joining from Suva, Nadi and the Pacific Harbour had shown interests.

“We have capped registrations at 300 runners to keep the logistics manageable for the day within our COVID-19 safe protocols,” she said.

“Thanks to the support of GHD, the volunteer first responders will be on hand to provide medical support. We also hope that all Pacific Harbour residents will support the event by cheering runners on.

“We have a great morning and course planned. On Friday, during the race, we are inviting the Pacific Harbour community to join Navua-based artist Padro Fanua at the Establishment to design motivational banners for runners so that residents can cheer runners on.

“We have prizes available for the best cheering squad, so you don’t have to be a runner to get involved. Thanks to our supporters at AFL, Munro Leys, Vodafone Fiji, GHD and EY. All of our medals and prizes are being sourced from small businesses.

“We’re also very grateful to FIJI Water to ensure that all of our runners stay well hydrated and to The Festival Company for events management support.

“On the day itself, the half marathon starts at 6am and the 10km at 7am. It’s a loop course starting and finishing at the Establishment. The course takes in residential areas of the Pacific Harbour area as well as the golf course.

“Prize giving will be at 8.45am and we’re encouraging everyone to stay on for breakfast and to join the Pacific Harbour market that is on the same day.”
