Women Entrepreneurs Business Council (WEBC) members who are at the forefront of environmental stewardship will soon be recognised for the work they do in protecting the environment as WEBC announces the inaugural Green Star Awards.
WEBC chairperson Sharyne Fong said the council would soon introduce the awards in its annual Women Invigorating the Nation (WIN) Convention.
“WEBC was delighted to have launched its green policy last year at our convention and we know, as women entrepreneurs, that we have a critical role to play in protecting our environment and developing business solutions that contribute to healthier, happier and greener society,” Ms Fong said at their sponsor acknowledgement media conference yesterday.
“We have so many incredible businesses among our membership who are delivering incredible sustainable-related solutions to their customers, and we are determined to lead the way as an FCEF (Fiji Commerce & Employers Federation) council, in championing reasonable business practices.
“This year, you’ll be proud to know that we will be announcing our Green Start Awards to recognise those in our membership who are at the forefront of environmental stewardship.
“Over the next few months, we will be developing criteria in line with global best practices to enable our members to benchmark themselves and nominate themselves into our inaugural Green Star Awards, which we hope to start from next year.”
Eleven organisations have so far declared its support for the annual event in the form of sponsorships and the British High Commission has again pledged to be the major sponsor.
