IN a fiercely contested event at the Future Electronics Stroke Competition held at Fiji Golf Club in Vatuwaqa, Suva on Saturday, Eddie Yuen demonstrated remarkable composure and determination to secure victory.
Competing against a field of 82 seasoned golfers and five juniors, Yuen battled until the final holes to claim the top spot in the A Grade division.
Posting a winning score of 70 strokes, Yuen edged out John Fatiaki, who carded 72, with Lyod Williams closely following in third place on 73 on countback.
The B Grade division proved equally competitive, with Ram Bajeka clinching the title by a narrow two-stroke margin over Tikiko Temo. Bajeka’s impressive 66 secured first place, while Temo finished second with 68, and Alex Konrote took third on 69, winning on countback.
Jim Anderson triumphed in the C Grade category by the slimmest of margins. His 68 strokes were enough to overcome the formidable Rajesh Kumar Raj, who finished one stroke behind on 69, with Rishi Ram completing the podium in third, also on 70 but prevailing on countback.
In the ladies’ overall division, Kaminl Singh emerged victorious, closely followed by Lynn Natividad in second place.
The junior division saw Isireli Digitaki take the honours, with Nathan Bronze and Tustlar Aaron Lal finishing second and third respectively.
In the professional grade, Arvind Lal showcased exceptional form, stamping his authority on the field to claim the division title.
The strong turnout and intense competition underscore the significant progress made by both the sport and its players within the greater Suva region.
