Who is Savenaca Narube

Savenaca Narube was the former governor of the Reserve Bank of Fiji and permanent secretary of the Ministry of Finance. He has worked at the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund in Washington DC in the US.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Canterbury University (NZ) and a Master of Commerce with Honours from the University of New South Wales (Australia).

Savenaca was the former chairman of many boards including the Reserve Bank of Fiji, the Fiji National Provident Fund, FINTEL, Fiji School of Medicine, Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority, Fiji Reinsurance Corporation of Fiji and the Rakavi Trust. Mr Narube was also a director of the Fiji Sugar Corporation, Amalgamated Telecom Holdings, Telecom Fiji Ltd and Fiji Electricity Authority. He was the alternate governor for Fiji at both the IMF and the Asian Development Bank.

He is a trustee of the Fiji Rugby Union and a member of the Audit and Risk Committee of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community. Since leaving the Reserve Bank of Fiji in 2009, Mr Narube has worked as an adviser in the Pacific in economic policies, public financial management, monetary and financial policies, and organisational change.

Mr Narube is from Cuvu Village in Nadroga. His mother was from Naikeleyaga, Kabara, in Lau.
