THE Oceania Institute of Technology(OIT) will soon be offering aviation programs for aspiring pilots and professionals in the aviation sector.
Its chief executive officer Dr Hasmukh Lal revealed this during the launch of the Self-Paced and Online Soft Skills Microlearning Courses in Nadi this week.
“We will do the formal announcement in September,” Dr Lal said.
“And from next year we’ll be offering Diploma of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering and Bachelor of Aviation, Airport and Airline Operations.”
Dr Lal said the institute, at Namaka in Nadi, is also looking at establishing commercial pilot training in partnership with its international partners.
He said OIT was established not only to serve Fiji but other Pacific Islands countries as well.
“I will begin my discussions with othe Pacific Island governments soon,” Dr Lal said.
“We really want to see the unmet skills demand and how OIT can operate to deliver their demand or serve their skills need in their countries.
“And if they need, we can fly their people to Fiji, train and then send them back and sometimes, it is a cheaper option.”
Opened in January this year, the OIT is a recognised and registered tertiary education provider which offers quality and relevant vocational and professional up-skilling qualifications, certifications, micro-qualifications and short courses with industry and community partnerships.
