THE whereabouts of Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) Acting Commissioner Lavinia Rokoika remain unknown a month on, with the anti-corruption watchdog yet to clarify who is overseeing its operations or respond to emails from this newspaper.
Her absence was raised in the High Court in Suva on October 2 when a FICAC prosecutor said documents could not be served because she was away overseas.
Since then, FICAC has chosen to remain silent on when Ms Rokoika left Fiji, the purpose and duration of her trip, who is funding it and whether an acting commissioner has been appointed.
Meanwhile, yesterday former Fijian Broadcasting Corporation (FBC) CEO Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and the radio station’s current chief financial officer, Vimlesh Sagar, were the latest to be set free by the courts after FICAC dropped charges.
