The United States ambassador to Fiji, Joseph Cella this afternoon launched the English Access Microscholarship Program for 24 children residing in Wakanisila, Kalabu settlement who are pioneers of the program.
The program will be managed by a local Non-Government Organisation, VisionFiji which focuses on children’s welfare and have received a grant for the program that is worth $70,328.
Mr Cella said this was a great key to opening the door to the English language which could lead to many other things.
Wakanisila resident, Kalisia Colavoli said this was a great opportunity for her nephew, Jeremaia Raiyawa to learn more about the English language.
The Access Program gives participants English skills that may lead to better jobs and educational prospects.
