AS the country experiences adverse weather, the Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) has called on people to store water for their drinking and cooking.
In a statement, WAF has also urged customers to boil all drinking water as an added precaution.
“While our teams are working round-the-clock to maintain a good water supply throughout the country, the current weather conditions may affect our systems,” the statement said.
“We urge Fijians to be prepared as a precaution.
“Adverse weather can cause problems such as clogging of water intakes, damages to water mains, water treatment issues due to high turbidity levels, electricity supply disruptions, and access restrictions to WAF sites for supply restoration and recovery efforts.”
WAF had assured customers that their water carting trucks were on standby and would be deployed as needed to impacted areas, with high priority given to hospitals.
