STUDENTS in the Yasawas received school supplies and other essential items through a community support program run by Vinaka Fiji.
The community give-back arm of South Sea Cruises Group recently delivered gifts to Naviti District School and Yasawa High School.
The gifts included school bags, boots, stationery, clothing and other useful items.
Vinaka Fiji said the assistance was aimed at helping schools, families and communities that faced greater challenges accessing basic supplies because of their remote locations.
The organisation has also distributed sanitation and personal care packs to single mothers in villages, as well as clothing and other items to students.
The program works with communities and the Government to identify needs and direct assistance to those who require it.
Vinaka Fiji also runs the Good Samaritan Initiative, through which South Sea Cruises Group employees donate surplus household items.
The initiative has expanded from the Yasawas to other landowning communities linked to the group.
Vinaka Fiji said gifts from guests, employees and other donors were distributed through the program to ensure they reached communities and families in need.
It urged people with unwanted but usable items to consider gifting them rather than discarding them.
The organisation acknowledged the contribution of donors and said continued community partnerships could help provide practical support to families, students and schools in maritime communities.
