EXPECT 24 hour self service vending machines to be out on the streets by the end of this year where bus commuters will be able to top up their eTransport cards.
This was confirmed by Vodafone’s Regional Chuief Executive Officer Pradeep Lal during a media conference earlier today.
“Vodafone plans to add even more new features and functionality to eTransport to improve the ease-of-use for the Fijian public. Vodafone has also embarked on a project to implement several 24 hour eTicketing self-service top-up vending machines at all major bus stations to further complement the current top-up options,” he said.
Meanwhile, 1300 top-up agents are across the country providing top-up services.
eTransport top-ups can now be done through M-PAiSA as well.
eTransport is a government regulated fare payment system that requires the travelling public to pay their bus fare through electronic means.
From October 1, 2017, passengers on public buses in Fiji were no longer allowed to pay their bus fare using cash. Cash fare were completely replaced with an electronic ticketing system.
Therefore, all passengers traveling on public buses will need to register for an eTransport card available at no cost and have these cards pre-loaded with electronic value to travel on public buses.
