THE University of the South Pacific will consider options on staff titles.

These were the comments of USP Vice-Chancellor Professor Pal Ahluwalia when he met the staff of USP’s Emalus Campus in Vanuatu on Monday, May 13, 2019.

Professor Ahluwalia expressed concern over the term ‘Intermediate and Junior’ staff, saying the title was quite demeaning.

He said the preferred terms would be academic and professional.

He also said that there would be more discussions between USP and staff on gratuity payments, and that staff may elect to receive either gratuity or severance payment.

The university, he said would consider how best to proceed with the changes.
