The second wave of COVID-19 and community transmission cases emerging from it is hitting small and micro-enterprises the hardest.

Nadi market suki seller Faiyaz Mohammed said he was uncertain about how long he could keep his business going if things did not pick up.

“I am the sole breadwinner for my family of six, and I am also trying help out a neighbour who has been out of work,” he said.

“Everyone’s business has been affected but I think the lockdown and containment is necessary and all the other health protocols are necessary as well because it is very important for us to control this virus.”

The Nawaka, Nadi resident urged all Fijians to follow instructions issued by the Health Ministry “as it was a matter of life and death”.
