UK court jails former Fijian British Army soldier

THE Bristol Crown Court in the United Kingdom has sentenced a former Fijian British Army soldier to seven years in prison for rape in May last year.

A trial in October 2019 had resulted in a hung jury and a retrial was held for 41-year-old Serupepeli Niubasaga.

It was alleged he raped a woman at the Duke of Gloucester barracks after a night of partying.

He has been terminated by the British Army.
