THE Foundation for Rural Integrated Enterprises and Development (FRIEND) Fiji has a set a platform for three local women to showcase their unique Fijian inspired cuisines for an Indonesian-based food artist school.

Held last Saturday, the showcase was conducted for a team from Seniman Pangan by the three local women through the Idea2Market Regenerative Bioeconomy Initiative.

FRIEND Fiji acting CEO Viloki Gohil said the experience had given her a new perspective on the possibilities for local food products.

“It has been really encouraging to have people from different parts of the food industry here, to taste our products and give us feedback,” she said.

“This experience provided FRIEND with the platform to bring the right people together, showcase the potential of our products, and expanding the market connections.”

Pacific Island Food Revolution executive director Robert Oliver said bringing the different groups together was an important part of the initiative.

“These businesswomen have great products and great ideas but getting them in front of the right people and having honest conversations about what the market wants is just as important,” he said.

“Having Seniman Pangan here adds another layer to that learning, and we hope the relationships that have started today will continue well beyond this event.”
