The High Court in Suva is expected to fix a trial date for Charles Laxton Sundar on October 1.
Mr Sundar’s case was called before Justice Usaia Ratuvili in the High Court in Suva today for mention.
The 25-year-old is charged with murder, with the prosecution alleging he slit the throat of Emori Rokovuki and dismembered his body using knives at Lutu, Wainibuka, on July 12, 2025.
The defence has received voir dire disclosures relating to its challenge to alleged admissions made by Mr Sundar.
The State is relying on the alleged admissions in relation to the incident at Lutu Village.
Mr Sundar has maintained his not-guilty plea. A recent psychiatric assessment found him fit to stand trial.
He remains remanded in custody.
