Parliament last night passed the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Bill after a vote.
MPs voted 30 in favour and 15 against the proposed law.
Afte the vote, the Fiji Truth and Reconciliation Commission Bill 2024 became an Act and will now be sent the President for his assent.
The Act will establish the Fiji Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
The Commission will facilitate open and free dialogue while investigating root causes of the coup culture in Fiji.
The Act also seeks to provide a forum to address historical grievances and promote national unity and reconciliation in Fiji.
