Fiji Hideaway Resort and Spa on the Coral Coast recently hosted phase two of the Kimaya Brighter Minds Train-the-Trainer Program.

The program was supported by the Ministry of Education with the objective of having the educators return to their schools and impart this unique knowledge which would unlock the cognitive capacities of another 3000 students across Fiji’s school communities.

Divisional Education Officer Western Napolioni Locoloco commended the powerful public-private alliance while opening the training program

“Education today extends beyond academic achievement. It is about nurturing the whole child, developing confidence, creativity, critical thinking, emotional wellbeing, and the skills needed to thrive in an ever-changing world,” Mr Locoloco said.

“The Ministry of Education values partnerships that complement and strengthen our efforts to provide quality learning opportunities for all students across Fiji.”

The Kimaya Fiji Group said it was proud of its initiatives which invests directly in the minds of Fiji’s future generation.

It operates the Fiji Hideaway Resort and Spa, Yatule Resort and Spa, Landers Bay Resort and Spa, Tour Managers and Paradise Bride, and is behind the Kimaya Brighter Minds program.

The Group said that since its inception last year, the Kimaya Brighter Minds program had successfully engaged 62 schools and educational institutions as an extracurricular activity.

“As of December 2025, more than 100 teachers have integrated these methodologies, directly impacting over 1000 students across urban, rural, and underserved communities,” the statement said.

“The driving force behind this movement is the Kimaya Brighter Minds Trust, chaired by Damend Gounder, who is the managing director of Kimaya Fiji.

“For him, this project isn’t just about standard corporate social responsibility.

“But it is deeply personal and runs parallel to the values they practice in business.”

Mr Gounder noted that the initiative ties directly into their internal corporate philosophy, known as the “Heart Program”, a concept centred on doing things purely from the heart.
