TikToker charged over online posts

Police have charged a Nadi woman with two counts of offences under the Crimes Act.

She was questioned by Police on yesterday

A statement from the Fiji Police Force said a 40-year-old woman from Nadi has been charged by the Fiji Police Cybercrime Unit following consultations with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

She faces two counts of Causing Harm by Posting Electronic Communication under the Online Safety Act 2018, and two counts of Insulting or Annoying any Person under the Crimes Act.

Police confirm the charges are related to content posted on social media platform TikTok.

The accused is currently in custody and is expected to appear at the Suva Magistrates Court today.
