AUCKLAND is bracing for a fierce Melanesian clash today as Extra Bula FC faces Vanuatu United FC in the OFC Pro League semi-final playoff, with both camps expecting a physical, high-tempo encounter.

The match has already drawn strong interest from supporters based in Auckland, New Zealand with fans from both sides turning out in numbers to back their teams in what is expected to be a tightly contested battle for a place in the final stages of the competition.

For Vanuatu United FC, experienced player Mathew Acton says the team understands the challenge ahead and is calling on continued support from their fans.

“We need to dig deep, it’s a big match against Bula FC,” Acton said.

“The support has been tremendous everywhere we look around from the people of Vanuatu and we are calling on fans to keep supporting the boys.”

On the Extra Bula FC side, young Ibraheem Afazal says the team’s focus remains on discipline and following the coach’s game plan, especially with several young players stepping into a high-pressure knockout environment.

“We will see what our coach says and do whatever we do in training,” Afazal said, highlighting the team’s commitment to sticking to structure and preparation.
