Minister for Home Affairs Pio Tikoduadua’s daughter is expected to return to Fiji on Saturday after months of treatment and rehabilitation for serious injuries sustained in the line of duty.

In a social media post, Mr Tikoduadua shared the family’s difficult journey as his daughter recovered from multiple fractures and significant internal injuries.

She suffered fractures to her right arm and leg, a fractured left knee and internal injuries so severe that she was placed in an induced coma for five weeks to allow doctors to operate and provide treatment.

Since April, she has spent months in hospital in Fiji and Australia, undergoing treatment and rehabilitation.

Mr Tikoduadua described her recovery as a deeply personal journey, praising her strength and determination throughout the ordeal.

He said he was proud of her willingness to return to serving her country.

The minister thanked doctors, nurses and health workers at CWM Hospital in Suva and Epworth Hospital in Australia for caring for his daughter.

He also acknowledged the Fijian community in Melbourne and others who supported her treatment and recovery, as well as those who kept the family in their thoughts and prayers.

“Some battles are fought in uniform. Others are fought quietly, one step at a time,” Mr Tikoduadua wrote.

He expressed gratitude to everyone who had stood by his daughter and family throughout her recovery.
