WITH the festival and carnival in full swing, one of the country’s biggest thrill ride service providers, Magic Land Rides, has set its sights on offering new amusement park attractions at this year’s Hibiscus Festival in Suva.
Magic Land Rides Fiji director Neha Prasad said with the festival celebrating its 70th anniversary, the company planned to introduce new rides for carnival goers.
“We are not only going to introduce Energy Claw in the Hibiscus, but we will also include our Octopus, Interstellar, Rok-O-Plane, Spacekraft and Bee Ride for everyone to experience,” Ms Prasad said.
Alongside business partner Fazrat Ali, she said they operated and managed an inventory of more than 50 rides, bouncy castles, and stalls with safety at the core of the business.
“Our high-thrill rides undergo daily component checks, mandatory structural load test, and triennial non-destructive testing (NDT).
“These tests are essential to pass by the OHS covering the layout, designs, ground conditions, and mechanical integrity before receiving operational certification, which we possess for all our rides.
“Our maintenance routine ensures checks on safety devices, drives and restraints and routine component testing of bolts, lock pins and transmissions and a structural load testing is conducted prior to public operation.”
She explained their jobs at various festivals across the country had also opened the door for employment and on the job training for Fijians.
“We provide on-the-job skill training for temporary workers in safety and customer service. We also partner with other local vendors who also have rides and other attractions, food stands, crafters, and retail vendors along with increasing sales for regional suppliers and adjacent storefronts during peak hours.”
With the Hibiscus Festival more than two weeks away, Ms Prasad said they hoped to gain a wider network and attention towards a long-term goal of establishing an amusement park.
