Tebbutt poll

The revelation in this newspaper by Tebbutt Research that more than 54 per cent of people surveyed want the Opposition to participate in the system is very encouraging indeed (FT 6/8). Certainly not to overtake the status quo and I hope the figure will increase as we go to poll in 2018.

Of course there are differences between parties and I am glad the people want it resolved amicably within the system.

Obviously from these figures there seems to be a shared attitude and values of problem solving with the view of reconciling within the system

In a competitive party system like ours, this is a good sign for representative government where everyone’s vote is respected and power is not in the hands of a few people as in a minority system.

We are a diverse society and this diversity must not be suppressed. I’m glad that more people agree that reconciliation or disagreement should be resolved in government system especially conflicts about economic choices.

We have to treat differences as something normal and natural; something to be resolved by everyone in Parliament to effect changes.

No one should feel barred from participation and frustrating their political wants.

Otherwise we risk instability and absence of peace. Power to the people.
