TC Mona: No need for Initial Damage Assessment

THERE is no need for Initial Damage Assessment (IDA) for Tropical Cyclone Mona.

This was highlighted by the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) during a briefing provided to the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama yesterday.

In a statement issued this morning NDMO revealed that all operation of Divisional Emergency Operation Centres have been stood down and all evacuation centres have been deactivated.

Mr Bainimarama was briefed that there is no need for the Initial Damage Assessment (IDA) since there were no significant damages reported from the divisional Emergency Operation Centres.

Meanwhile, all evacuees have returned to their homes after Ministry of Health have conducted health checks.

“The Commissioner Eastern and Northern Division have confirmed that there was no reports from all sectors in each divisions including infrastructure, no major agricultural damages to crops and vegetation, the Nasau crossings in Koro have been repaired and the evacuation centers in Koro have been de-activated and officials have assisted in the cleanup.

“All operations have resumed as normal including inter islands shipping services to the Lau group,” the statement said.
