Villagers living close to Naqali in the district of Viria, Naitasiri, travelled by boat and bamboo rafts across flooded waters this morning after the Waidina River burst its banks.
Passengers and cargo were transported by police personnel on the ground by a police boat that has been servicing the area since early morning.
Floodwaters continue to rise since 6am today, according to villagers at the Naqali Rd who made it across.
President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere was also at Naqali while visiting flood-hit areas on the ground.
