FOR Suva law firm Munro Leys, partnering with the Rexona Suva Marathon for 12 years stemmed from the intent of keeping active and always moving forward.
It is the crux of its partner Richard Naidu’s words during the launch of the event at the office of the Motibhai Group of Companies in Suva yesterday.
Naidu relayed the firm’s continuous support for the event, while being a well organised event by a well organised club such as the Suva Marathon Club, also extended a supportive arm towards helping address the nation’s health crisis in combating the rise of non-communicable diseases.
He used the example of the 2026 FIFA World Cup to drive home the point he stressed.
“I’ve been watching those guys play soccer, and there’s no way that most of us have got those skills, but it’s really not that hard to put one foot in front of the other and to keep going and to keep trying,” Naidu mentioned.
“News flash everybody – we have a national health crisis.”
He pointed to a report released by the World Bank recently which detailed the ailments plaguing the Fijian population and how the firm embraced their backing of the event as “a small way in which we can get involved.”
“We sign up, we set ourselves a modest, not too ambitious, target and we start training,” he emphasised.
Naidu has also competed in the Suva Marathon over the years and told those present to take up the initiative.
“Let’s just all get out there, let’s get booked. Let’s make sure we are ready to roll.”
The Suva Marathon will be held on Saturday, August 8 by starting and finishing at the Albert Park Pavillion in Suva.
Registration is now open on Ticketmax.
