MEMBERS Of the Dolphin Swim Club who are in New Zealand for the 2017 Anthony Mosse Classic are training hard to fare well in the Auckland competition that starts on Sunday.
Club manager David Eyre said the Fijian swimmers would compete against some experienced swimmers from other countries.
The team has had four training sessions since arriving in New Zealand.
“The main thing here is to control the controllable and not get distracted by who your competitors are, so getting used to the racing venue is important,” he said.
“Being an individual sport, the focus will be mainly on how well you do as an individual and making sure you race your own race and stick to your race plan.”
Eyre said he was amazed to see young swimmers, mostly in under-15 compete at the new venue for the first time.
He has been encouraging swimmers to do well.
The competition will be held from January 20-22.
