SUVA Futsal have cemented their dominance of the Extra Futsal Inter-District Championship (IDC), claiming a seventh consecutive title after defeating Tailevu Naitasiri 5-3 in a hard-fought final yesterday.
But for head coach Vivek Nadan, this year’s triumph was among the most satisfying, with Suva forced to rebuild after losing almost half of their players from last year’s championship-winning squad.
“This year was particularly hard. We lost almost half of our players from last year, but we got new players coming in from our system who have stepped up to defend the title,” Nadan said.
The victory highlighted the depth of Suva’s futsal program, with emerging players rising to the occasion to maintain the capital side’s remarkable run.
Nadan also praised Tailevu Naitasiri for pushing his team in the final, acknowledging the challenge they provided.
He said he looked forward to another competitive battle between the two sides next year.
