Namosi women’s rugby coach Kasanita Maraia knows her side must improve its start and maintain consistency when it faces Nasinu in the Subrails Marama Championship final this Saturday.
Maraia said the defending champions needed to work on their catch-up rugby after allowing Nadi to take control in the first half of their semi-final before fighting back to secure a 41-39 victory at Prince Charles Park last Saturday.
“We will have to work on catch up rugby.
“In our semi-final match against Nadi we catch up rugby from second half, that’s not what we wanted and we will have to work on that area and try to improve,” she said.
Namosi will need to address that weakness against a determined Nasinu side, which will be eager to claim the championship title.
Maraia acknowledged that the final would be a tough contest.
“We know it will not be an easy battle but we are looking forward to it and we looking at challenges that will come our way and we know they will want to come prepare in the final and will want to win the title,” she said.
Despite the challenge ahead, Maraia remains confident in the depth of her squad, particularly the impact players who have helped lift the team’s intensity when introduced from the bench.
She said their contribution was evident in the thrilling semi-final victory over Nadi, where Namosi rallied in the second half to book its place in the final.
“We have a good group of impact players who always come in and lifting the intensity of the match like what we saw in our semi-final against Nadi,” Maraia said.
With the championship title at stake, Namosi will be aiming to produce a more consistent performance from the opening whistle as it prepares for another showdown against Nasinu.
