THE two sureties for a man accused of attempted murder have been ordered to appear before the High Court after he failed to attend court as required under his bail conditions.
Prosecutor Hezekiah Nofaga informed Justice Dane Tuiqereqere that Saimoni Rokotunidau, who is charged with the attempted murder of Police Constable Senoveva Tikoduadua, remained at large and had also sold the property where he had been residing.
The State applied for the sureties to be summoned to explain Mr Rokotunidau’s non-attendance.
Justice Tuiqereqere granted the application and directed the two sureties to appear on August 25.
Mr Rokotunidau is charged in relation to an incident in April in which Constable Tikoduadua was allegedly struck by a vehicle while manning a police checkpoint in Laqere, Nasinu.
The police officer is the daughter of Defence and Veterans Affairs Minister Pio Tikoduadua.
Mr Rokotunidau also faces a count each of unlawful possession of illicit drugs, going equipped for theft, serious assault, and refusing to have his fingerprints and photographs taken.
