TODAY was an emotional day for 50 members of the Streeter family from New Caledonia after renewing their family ties with the vanua o Rara Nakelo more than 100 years after Captain Nelson Streeter left Fiji.
For Evelyn Streeter a fifth generation grandchild of Captain Nelson, the day was more emotional when the Turaga Tui Nakelo Ratu Timoci Namela welcomed and accepted them.
“It am touched and emotional and this trip has really been a worthwhile trip,” said Ms Streeter.
“Today you are home, welcome home and anytime you want to come again to Fiji remember Nakelo is your home,” said the turaga na Tui Nakelo Ratu Timoci Namela.
