The Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) received a boost of $5000 worth of equipment yesterday from Leadership Fiji.
Leadership Fiji Community Fund chairman Rajesh Patel said the equipment would allow the SPCA to produce dog treats for the pets at the shelter and to sell to pet owners and the public.
“We are always eager to assist organisations such as the SPCA, especially in helping them become self-sustainable and this is one step in helping them achieve that,” he said.
SPCA vice president Ken Kassem said he was grateful to Leadership Fiji for the timely assistance.
“The dog treats that will be made from this equipment will be sold to the public and will assist in the running of the SPCA and it also benefits the welfare of our animals,” he said. The equipment included a dehydrator and an oven to bake dog treats such as jerky and cookies.
