‘Solutions’ to ease traffic in Suva-Nausori corridor

Listen to this article:

AUTHORITIES will trial a series of proposed solutions aimed at easing traffic congestion across 12 points in the Suva to Nausori corridor where high volumes of traffic are recorded.

The trial will start from next week and members of the public have been advised to plan their journey well and have patience.

Land Transport Authority (LTA) CEO Irimaia Rokosawa has also called on drivers to remain vigilant on the roads.

“For these solutions to work, we need the assistance and the cooperation of every member of the general public, every Fijian out there, especially the drivers,” he said.

“They need to be considerate and empathise with all road users, and also, very importantly, please plan your journey. You know when the peak traffic hours are, try and avoid that, and also try to follow one route on a daily basis.

“It takes only about a 15-minute difference for you to be caught up in the traffic.

“There are certain new things been proposed, no right turnings, slip lanes you will have to master.”

He said they didn’t just want output to resolve this issue, but real outcomes to solve the issue.
