HEAVYWEIGHT boxer James Singh says months of hard work and sacrifice have prepared him well for his clash against Senivalati Ratu at the Bluewater Boxing Promotion at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka on May 23.
The bout will be part of an exciting 15-fight program on Saturday night, which follows Friday’s free-entry program featuring two postponed fights from last year’s Nadi event.
Singh said preparations had gone smoothly and he was thankful for the opportunity to once again step into the ring.
“Preparation is good. Firstly, I want to thank God for another opportunity and health to be here.
“We’ve been through a lot of ups and downs and we’ve been training hard and preparation is good and looking ready for May 23,” Singh said.
The Sigatoka-based boxer said he expected a challenging contest against Ratu, especially with the two fighters knowing each other well from years of training together.
“He’s not a new face to me. He’s been training with me for probably the past six to seven years and I respect that.
“He’s learned a lot from me and I respect that. I wish him all the best in his preparation and I know I’m prepared as well,” he said.
Singh said he continued to improve with every fight.
“Every fight I’m getting better and I’m putting in the work now and I can’t wait for May 23.”
Promoter Samir Khan said boxing fans could expect an entertaining night of action with quality local and overseas fighters on the card.
Khan also urged supporters to come out in numbers and support the event at Lawaqa Park.
