Solomons PM Wale headed to Fiji

Solomon Islands Prime Minister Matthew Wale will arrive in Fiji today to attend the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Troika Meeting in his capacity as Forum Chair.

According to the Prime Minister’s Press Office, the Government of Fiji has elevated the visit to an official visit in recognition of Wale’s role as Chair of the Pacific Islands Forum.

Prime Minister Wale is expected to arrive at Nausori Airport this evening where he will be received with a 50-member Guard of Honour and accorded a traditional Fijian welcome ceremony.

During the visit, Wale will pay a courtesy call on President, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, at the State House before holding bilateral talks with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.

The Troika is a leadership mechanism comprising the current Chair, the immediate past Chair and the incoming Chair, providing political leadership and continuity between the Forum’s annual Leaders’ Meetings.
