MEMBERS of the Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) have called on the Coalition Government to convene an inter party committee sitting as soon as possible.

Party vice-president Anare Jale says they are very disappointed that a number of promises made during the coalition agreement, prior to forming Government with The People’s Alliance (PA) and National Federation Party (NFP), have not been honoured.

Among these promises are board memberships for SODELPA members, and diplomatic postings for Fiji’s embassies in the United States of America in Washington DC, the United Kingdom and a position for Roving Ambassador.

Mr Jale says there are options the party will pursue if their grievances are not addressed.

In the agreement signed last December, SODELPA is entitled to recommend individuals to be appointed for diplomatic missions, various boards of statutory authorities as well as government companies and independent statutory commissions.

This, however, was agreed to be subject to merit, as well as academic, professional qualifications, character and special reference to gender representation.
