Fiji recorded its highest-ever visitor arrivals for the month of September, welcoming 95,970 visitors in 2026, according to provisional figures released by the Fiji Bureau of Statistics.

The figure surpassed the 92,591 arrivals recorded in September 2024.

However, September arrivals were 4 per cent lower than August 2026, when Fiji welcomed 99,963 visitors.

Australia remained Fiji’s largest tourism market, accounting for 46,302 visitors, or 48.2 per cent of total arrivals.

New Zealand followed with 22,207 visitors, representing 23.1 per cent, while the United States contributed 9,358 visitors, or 9.8 per cent.

Together, Australia and New Zealand accounted for more than 71 per cent of all arrivals during the month.

Other major source markets included Continental Europe with 3,329 visitors, China with 2,924, Canada with 1,451 and the United Kingdom with 1,287.

The seven major source markets collectively accounted for 90.5 per cent of visitor arrivals.

Holiday travel continued to dominate, with 80.4 per cent of visitors arriving for leisure purposes.

Another 8.1 per cent travelled to Fiji to visit friends or relatives, while 2.1 per cent arrived for business purposes.

The remaining 9.4 per cent visited for other reasons.

Of the total arrivals, 94,950 entered Fiji by air, while 1,020 arrived by sea.

Sea arrivals included 671 seamen aboard fishing vessels and 349 visitors travelling by yacht.

The provisional figures show that September visitor arrivals have generally increased since 2022, despite a slight decline in 2025.

The latest record highlights continued growth in Fiji’s tourism sector, particularly from its traditional Australian and New Zealand markets.
