SEBASTIAN ‘The Sniper’ Singh maintained his unbeaten run in the country after defeating Lautoka’s Franco Fraser on unanimous points in the main bout of the Best Boxing Promotion Program at Prince Charles Park in Nadi on Saturday night.

Singh who was the firm favourite for the bout did not have it all his way as a courageous Fraser managed to stay on his feet throughout the duration of the 10 x 3 minute clash.

The score cards read 97-93, 98-93 and 96-93 all in Singh’s favour.

Despite dominating the bout with his longer reach, Singh failed to capitalise on the advantage at times disappointing his fans who urged him to finish off his opponent.

Fraser put on a strong defensive display evading Singh with his swift footwork and scored from a few punches on the counter.

After the bout Singh apologised to the fans for the debacle which erupted after the bout against Rakuro Daunivavana at the same venue in July.

Singh said it was a pleasure to face a great warrior like Fraser in the ring. He also paid tribute to former Fiji middleweight champion Atama Raqili who passed away recently.

“I would like to thank my family, sponsors and fans for all the support,” he said.

“I have a lot of respect for Fraser. For the crowd I would like to apologise for what happened here the last time and I ask for forgiveness.

“Rest in peace Atama Raqili one of the great boxers of Fiji.” Singh said he was willing take on anyone in his weight division.

“Jese (Ravudi) can come and get me,” he said. A war of words erupted after this comment as Ravudi grabbed hold of the microphone inside the ring.

“You said there is no local boxer here who can beat you,” Ravudi yelled at Singh as he made his way out towards the changing room.

“I’m here but you keep running away. We can do it anytime. Stop shouting about it in the media,” Ravudi added.
