Singapore 7s: Fiji wins first pool game against Canada, 50 – 12

FIJI began its campaign of the HSBC Singapore 7s title with a 50-12 victory over Canada at the National Stadium in Singapore a while ago.

The Fiji Airways 7s side’s early points came from captain, Paula Dranisinukula in the 2nd minute, Meli Derenalagi in the 5th minute and Sevuloni Mocenacagi in the dying seconds before half time.

Although the Gareth Baber coached side led 19 – 7 at half time, they maintained their composure with Aminiasi Tuimaba scoring a double in the 9th and 10th minute.

Josua Vakurunabili added salt to injury with a try in the 12th minute while and Apenisa Cakaubalavu secured Fiji’s high finish, also scoring a double in the 13th and 15th minute.

Canada’s tries came from Matt Mullins who scored in the 3rd minute and Harry Jones in the 14th minute of the game.

The national side will play Scotland next at 8:02pm.
